It's really haunting to me that one of the key things that the Cass Review, the Appleby Report, the Sullivan Report etc have been designed specifically to do is to hide the harm that has been arranged to happen to trans people.

My theory several years ago when I set up TSN was that understanding how harm was organised means opportunities to challenge, deconstruct, disrupt the organisation of harm. To make it clear where systems controlling trans life are being set up without trans input that this was a vehicle for harm.

I've been banging the "discrimination, hate crime and harm are structural" drum for a long time. I've been long past particularly caring about random acts of personal hatred because there's really not a lot we can do about those incidents treated in isolation.

Then the government set up the Cass Review where they excluded trans people from the research board to prevent "bias", where she worked it seems extensively with members of SEGM (a US based international pro conversion therapy advocacy body close to the trump regime masquerading as scientists).

And then she put out an interim policy calling for puberty blocker prescriptions to be put on pause. And then people pointed out existing studies showed large increases in suicidality for vulnerable patients where such policies are put in place. then we started going to funerals for dead trans kids

The government responded by commissioning the Appleby Report. This was hastily conducted over I think 2 days if I remember correctly. I don't believe Appleby consulted any of the trans rights organisations raising the alarm over the shocking rise in our young trans people dying.
