I like how in original Traveller you have some skills like Tactics or Steward, and the book is like ”yeah it’s up to you to figure out when these apply, I don’t have a specific situation for it” They’d chase you off Reddit if you published that in a game now.

DD/HS is essentially a very rules light OSR/NSR type game with an D&D 4e/Lancer style ship combat system on top of it. You are very squishy outside of your ship, but once you're in space, the game gets to be a tactical co-operative space wargame.
