I will be voting no on the proposed continuing resolution in the U.S. House. Republican leaders have turned their backs on Americans facing rising health care costs and refuse to address the affordability crisis their own policies created. My statement:

We always said the law required Trump to keep SNAP going using the funding Congress provided. He just didn't want to. Now he's filing an *appeal* to try to deny food to 42 million Americans, using the shutdown as a pretext. As he holds lavish parties with his wealthy friends.

“I don't want to hear about the affordability.” Trump is globe-trotting, holding lavish parties, focusing on a ballroom while health care and electricity costs skyrocket and his tariffs drive up grocery prices. “I don't want to hear about the affordability.” He does not care.

Donald Trump and Republicans have repeatedly made life harder for the American people during this shutdown. They should try helping them instead, and work with Democrats to lower health care costs for millions of Americans. That's what the American people are asking for.

The Trump Administration is legally required to pay every federal worker at the end of any shutdown without exception. The law is not ambiguous, it clearly bars this wanton cruelty and if Trump pursues it he will lose.

Trump is now threatening to starve 42 million Americans, in violation of law and court orders, after spending the weekend holding lavish parties with his rich donors. Unspeakably cruel and corrupt, and all the Republicans in Congress can say is "I didn't see that."

America should not go to war with Nigeria. We should not go to war with Venezuela. We should not invade Mexico or Iran. Trump should stop trying to start more wars and focus on helping struggling Americans.

A No Kings protester in Ohio was struck by a man who drove his truck onto the sidewalk. Trump supporters were arrested in Pennsylvania and South Carolina for pulling guns on peaceful protesters. A man Trump pardoned was just arrested for threatening to murder Leader Jeffries.

We were told those who attended this weekend’s activities would be scary, violent terrorists who hate America but that's not what I saw. I saw patriots who love their country, and love exercising their constitutional rights to express themselves.
