No amount of AI literacy can protect us because the problem isn’t knowledge, or how to use the system, it’s that the system exists in a culture that has been radically structured around white supremacy and patriarchy and your precious autocomplete incorporates it into its operations.

Why aren't students protesting?

It's fascinating to see some people frame the public movement against building data centers as NIMBYism. Data centers are an environmental and health disaster that exacerbates already existing inequalities. Ensuring they don't get built near your house is NOT like wanting to ban bike lanes.

This is an important reason to refuse the integration of chatbots in education. Legitimizing this tech in classrooms will encourage recreational use, including abusive use.

I need you folks to understand that this is the way they push through restricting being able to print things like whistles anything else they happen to find objectionable at the drop of a hat. This is the start of that regulatory slippery slope.

I personally think not safe to remain in any personal relationship with anyone who is using LLMs to analyze your relationship, make conclusions about your motives, or determine how to treat you. I think this is beyond red flag—it should be an immediate dealbreaker.

"Gen AI" is not politically neutral, even & especially when using it against political opponents. This isn't some "tying a hand behind your back" situation, this is literally harming yourself and everyone else by giving legitimacy and credence to a deeply dangerous technisocial paradigm. So stop it.

I've been quietly removing tech from my school library since I took over 6 years ago. I thought people would be annoyed, but it's been great. Adults have barely noticed, and the students have responded well.
