I think the obvious answer to the idea of a “desert island” filmography is Nicolas Cage. He has worked in literally every genre multiple times & had amazing highs & fascinating lows in each. they're the kind of movies that people write off as entertaining trash but "the beauty of pulp" (per Kathryn Bigelow) is that filmmakers can stuff their genre movies full of covert subversive subtext. which isn't true of every Predator movie, but a few are smarter than they're given credit for.
