A refusal to give blood or urine samples in this type of situation should come with an automatic 10 year driving ban. There is no valid reason to refuse. Former TD Colm Keaveney banned from driving for four years after refusing to provide sample to gardaí

4000km later and I am still totally in love with our family longtail ebike. This is a regular reminder to anyone that is considering taking the leap to just do it, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Unless we have experienced similar tragedy it is impossible to understand the pain that has been brought on this family in Galway today. There is no excuse for our roads and streets not being safe for children to walk and cycle along.

Another study concludes that cycling is good for your health. “… commuter cycling ∼150 min/wk for just 10 weeks can improve cardiorespiratory fitness, resting heart rate, and diastolic blood pressure, all known markers of cardiovascular health.”

A claimed cost estimate of €23.39 billion for Dublin's planned MetroLink is not part of the normal price estimate range. It is seen as 95% unlikely and seen as a "worst-case scenario", but media coverage has been criticised for making people think otherwise. MetroLink is a planned automated railway between Dublin City Centre and Swords, serving areas such as Ballymun, Glasnevin, Phibsborough, the Mater Hospital, O'Connell Street, Tara Street, St Stephen's Green, and Charlemont.

Days like today make my cycle commute an absolute joy. With the world going to hell in a hand-basket, it's good to notice & be appreciative of the progress being made in some quarters,like the now car-free Sallins to Naas greenway. Kudos to Kildare CoCo for advancing this

Interesting that the
@ccacireland.bsky.social
are suggesting we spend approx. €4bn on electric cars.... while these vehicles are part of the solution, cars cause congestion and it is estimated it will cost the state €2bn by 2030....

⚠️ Good to see the reductions on speed limits for Local Roads come into effect today. There's been a lot of confusion & clickbait around it, but todays changes are only happening on small, rural roads where the current limit of 80km/h is not suitable and most would drive at or around 60km/h anyway.

As the cold snap wears on I'm increasingly frustrated that it's still not safe for me to cycle in Naas because the paths are like ice rinks, uncleared, ungritted. Meanwhile, most roads are well maintained & safe for driving. Why should pedestrians & cyclists accept this clear deprioritisation?

If
@kerrycoco.ie
can do it, why not Kildare County Council? It's not like it caught them unawares, or they haven't had time to address it. It's 4 days in at this stage, and still, nothing.

“Every $1,300 New York invested in building bike-lanes in 2015 provided benefits equivalent to 1 additional year of life at full health over the lifetime of all city residents, according to a new economic assessment.” Bike-lanes are a sound public health investment.

3000 school run kilometres on this reliable beauty in a little over a year. Weekly shops, paddleboards, guitars, 4 children at a time, extra adults, plants, DIY stuff. This bike has taken it all. My one regret? Not buying it years earlier. If you're considering it honestly just do it.
