As being unconditionally pro-Israel becomes virtually incompatible with being considered a mainstream Democrat, AIPAC's demands for elected officials have become more maximalist, not less, and at the same time they've infused more money than ever, predominately GOP money, into Democratic races.

One might speculate that this has to do with how much of AIPAC's donor base is already preferential to one of the two political parties.
