If you want a cool puzzle game that makes you feel, i HIGHLY recommend Venba. It's Cooking Mama by way of Orba Dinn. You inherit a generational cook book, but it's falling apart. You have to recreate the recipes using context clues.

Digging through my digital giveaways this evening I decided to go through Venba, or "what if someone else did Cooking Mama but it was charming and compelling enough for me to care." I'll admit that even with instructions I still botched some recipes, but it was otherwise short (~90 mins) & sweet.

Venba is a short narrative puzzle game where you try to make a bunch of tamil recipes using your grandmother's cookbook. It's a beautiful game and can be played beginning to end in one sitting, which I did because once I started it I couldn't stop.

Venba Fantastic, concise, touching and extremely relatable little game. Go talk to your parents; unless they are absolute assholes, in that case fuck em, fly high brother.

Game 190: Venba This had been on my list of games to play for a while and when I finally sat down to play it, I couldn't stop. The story had me locked in and I loved the aspect of uncovering/remembering recipes as I went along with the plot. An absolute must play imho.

any time discourse about game writing spins up I only have one thing to say which is Venba has the best writing of any game I’ve played in the last 5 years and everyone should play it

[ #gameyear25 Nr. 9 Venba] Score: 9/10 Venba beautifully tells a story about an Indian family in the USA and how to be torn between the cultural differences. It is told through dishes you cook and what can I say? It had me glued to the screen (and hungry). It is a great hidden small gem!

this game is So Good please go play it. absolutely beautiful art in all senses, storytelling and emotion, and just a joy to play. i may or may not have cried a lot playing it. also relatable diaspora life stuff which hit especially hard. so good.
