Just wrapped up the Dosa Divas demo and, honestly, I already had this wishlisted from the first trailer so this was a nice chance to get a peek at the mechanics, aesthetic and voice and I was super pleased!! Classic console rpg feel with interactivity similar to Mario RPG with timed hits/dodges...

Well- myself and a few of my peers were laid off this week. Riot’s severance is generous, and I’ve got the opportunity to apply internally to a few roles, which I’m taking advantage of- and I’ve gotten some kind leads on external roles as well. I’ve got a little time to conduct a search.

Oops, I f'd up combat balance for our live Steam demo temporarily. 😑 We have lots of different ways to balance damage/health/etc in Dosa Divas. Like most game dev tools, we count up from 0. The game is divided up in to Chapters so player facing Chapter 1 is actually internally 0, Chapter 2 =1 etc.

"It's like working with a very junior programmer that never learns and never gets better" is the best analogy I've heard from a senior programmer when trying to use LLMs for game development. There isn't any intent or learning from experience.

Demonschool does this... kinda! Our backgrounds ARE full 3D, but for most of the overworld gameplay, we have a fixed camera angle... if there are no moving lights, we can cache the world to a texture and treat the whole world as an impostor, essentially doing runtime 'pre-rendering' i guess.
