The new update introduces the former Whole Sick Crew of protagonist Hershel Wilk, aka CASCADE, which was split apart by a failed mission that took place five years ago. After Hershel is recalled to undertake a mysterious mission and prove herself once again in the city-state of Portofiro, she my need to win back her former allies.
At 21, Karolina Hayato, aka Kindred, is the youngest member of the former crew. She was taught espionage skills by Herschel, who last saw her undercover inside a highly experimental Dream Study. Ramses Molloy, aka Radian, is a technology expert, specialising in audio surveillance and forensics. He was the closest that Herschel had to a friend in the crew. Tempo del Sur, aka Taxman, is a larger-than-life presence and a major player in the Portofiran underworld. An expert smuggler, he is able to obtain anything through legal and non-legal means.

Vespar Sondo, aka Virtue, is part of Portofiro's elite investigative police. His connections to both the authorities and underworld give him great access to information, though he is a strong alcoholic. Eszti Newitz, aka Estoc, is undercover in the Portofiran government as a liaison with a global development bank and rival intelligence service. She warned Hershel about their network being compromised before Herschel left the crew out to dry. Finally Holocene, who's real name is unknown, was the crew's second-in-command and master cryptographer.
Zero Parades: For Dead Spies sees players seek out secrets through various methods such as collaborating or clashing with informants and other characters, passing skill checks, and getting out of dangerous situations. Player choices can impact other characters’ loyalty, available paths, and the state of Hershel’s mind. The story is stated to be built to encourage players to continue even if they fail at their current task. The game will release for PC on May 21, 2026, through Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store, priced at $39.99. A PlayStation 5 release is planned to follow later in the year.
