pfff every time I see something like this, I'm glad I'm taking my sweet time. I've collaborated on at least 5 different games since starting my mostly solo project and it's been real good for my mental health (and my finances hah) and stepping away and coming back keeps things fresh and innovative

It's kinda annoying how solar panels were hung around the neck of the left as impractical pie in the sky treehugger shit *right* up until it started outcompeting every other energy source. Then suddenly, instead of going "hey the left was correct about solar" it's no longer a "left" idea!

The discussion generates a lot of excellent points but I also think one thing gets overlooked: forever games I often get funny looks when I say niche genres with finite gameplay (say, deduction) do incredibly well it's because they end, and people want to play more, so they move to the next one.

Doctor that screenshot by scaling your shit until you have something that is readable. And then scale it a bit more just because. Now apply that to every screen in your game

I get the whole 'bad people can make good art' but I think people often overlook that we give art a lot of benefits of the doubt. When an artist is revealed to be bad, we recontextualise their art and realise it was far more problematic. They no longer get to have our friendly reading of their work
