One thing that surprised me this afternoon, I ran down to the post office to pick up a package, and when I came back I went to check on everyone--and found the tarantula's shed in the corner. Good to see she's growing well enough TO shed!

Plus side, the last few things I was waiting on for Colombina's new enclosure build have arrived, so I can maybe start on that tonight. After work. And after the homework due tonight that I'd forgotten about. (Just a quiz, but still.)

So, I've made the difficult decision to at least attempt a grade option change to audit for FDMA350, and if they don't approve on medical grounds--I literally dislocated my drawing arm--then I'll just drop the class. With every new catastrophe, I have less time to do the things I want to do.

How tired am I? Last night’s dreams involved a road trip, and during a stop, instead of getting out, I stayed in the car and napped. In a dream.

Encountered and relocated a smooth green snake off the road on my way in to work this evening. Little guy let me pick it up, but once I’d done that it wasn’t too happy. Still, safely moved into the brush.

My sister used to be a ballerina in Cincinnati Ballet’s rendition of The Nutcracker (among other things), before her ankles made it so she couldn’t dance en pointe. But, as a result I’ve gotten good at recognizing dancers, they have a certain way of moving, even when they’re being silly

Pondering the PORB

For today’s feeding, both Melinoë AND Kālindī struck and wrapped! Even though I’d just fed the latter yesterday, she just came out of a shed cycle so I’m sure she’s hungry. Mackie still won’t strike, little guy’s still scared of me. But he did eat!

It was so cool tonight, as I was feeding everyone, Melinoë (the boa) actually struck the (frozen thawed) mouse I was offering in tongs, and then wrapped it! Even though all three snakes are constrictors, this was the first time I’d seen any of them actually do that.

Wasn’t sure of the location of this photo; of the backdrops I could find, it most closely resembled the montane wadis in which the veiled chameleon can most commonly be found in the Sarawat Mountains. I believe I’ve found it: Calanques de Piana, Corsica, which has a similar climate and flora!

Colombina’s new backdrop has been glued to the back pieces of her new enclosure. Top piece is close to set, bottom piece just got glued (I ran out last night, had to run to the store and get a new spray can). Still needs trimming, grommet installation, and of course the enclosure build.

Well, I didn’t NEED another reason to hate this guy, but, y’know, as long as everything that emits from him is utter garbage of the worst quality, I suppose the world is still turning

In other news I’m thoroughly exhausted, and I’ve learned today that if I want to get anything done, I cannot assume literally anything, and I have to come out the gate running, dual-wielding, and shooting blindly, to not just stop but to kill every piece of opposition, which is to say everything

One good thing though: just got back the biopsy results, and the four samples sent in were all perfectly normal. Two, which the doctor had obtained as polyps, were tubular adenoma, completely benign and fairly normal; the remaining samples were all perfectly normal tissue.

I was told not to shave before the colonoscopy, so the anesthesiologist could monitor for adverse reactions—which then, my face was all red and irritated so she still couldn’t And with the sling I can’t really shave either But here I am, trying, in spite of everything, to get RO water for animals

Shoulder‘s back in, arms in a sling now, waiting for my ride back home for the second time today. I desperately need to eat and drink or else I would immediately go to bed upon going home. This was complicated by the colonoscopy, because of course I’m still sedated.

Welp, got back from the colonoscopy, and wouldn’t you know it, within ten goddamn minutes I dislocate my motherfucking shoulder

Of course, gotta be on the road in less than two hours in order to make my appointment, because they don’t give a fuck that I live two hours away and work second shift But in the meantime, the lighting here shows why they’re called BLUE beauty rat snakes. Mackie’s so pretty and cute. :3

One bit of good news today though: the boa finally ate for the first time since being in my care! I’d offered her food before, but I think she was too scared to try eating. Tonight, ironically after adding a new branch to her enclosure, she DID finally eat, a nice little frozen-thawed fuzzy.
