Alright! I've reached feature parity in the MVC refactor and man, does the code look fairly clean imo. Ending with a +614 -712 feels pretty good too. I know refactors tend to get hate but I also know with a good foundation, new features are easier to add and maintain. Here's a simple example!

So I've expanded upon this idea, because it still didn't really solve the problem of making good palettes. I needed more control and organization. So now I've got a tool that allows me to place ramps on a grid, orient them, adjust blending, and export as a png for use in art programs!

I really want a workflow to generate color palettes easily, so last night I built a tool to do that in Godot! It uses oklab for blending a color to a light and dark color! Any artists out there know any features that might make this tool nicer? #indiegamedev #art #colors

Interesting Godot addon spotted! The API looks like something I've set up pretty often in some of my projects for easy access to certain things. I'm sure this'll be very handy to use in the future! Very interested in the performance results of it.

The scariest part about Gamedev is eventually people have to play the game. I'm always very impressed when I see people put themselves out there, even if it's not the best thing in the world it takes a lot of guts to do it and it earns a ton of respect in my eyes. I hope I can be more like that.

This is a big thing I spent a bit of time learning initially! Themes are so easy in Godot! It's a shame people don't bother sometimes! There's so much you can do with control nodes style-wise if you just sit down and play with the theme editor a bit!

This is why I think it's so important to encourage people learning! Only this year I started really forcing myself to push through and learn some art skills, and I get it when people say that it can be painful. It's hard to figure out what's "right" or "wrong" in an area that's so subjective.

Spent some time learning today, modeling a go-kart, based on Mario Kart DS's design. Weird thing to try and model and texture. Might still have to work on the body a bit.

I was worried I didn't really learn anything for the #GMTKjam, as the coding work was known stuff for me already. Then the reviews started coming in and I've realized I should really start doing playtesting earlier! Having spent so much time playing, I may've made it too difficult for new players.

Alright, #GMTKjam got me. I've been playing with a Pokemon Ranger inspired dungeon crawler. I'm really enjoying how this feels, trying my best not to bother with art and things are going smoothly... To add to this, learning skills outside of what you know can reveal so much about everything you interact with. It's hard to overstate how useful this is from a design and even an appreciation standpoint to know how much effort and skill went into the works you thought you were familiar with.
