i would say this as a concept artist watching my craft get completely eradicated from greed and laziness, watching my peers default on loans or move back home over total job loss, but even just as a normal-ass gal it's kind of a bummer to hear "looks fun, im still gonna play it"

There's been an erosion with how AI is used, and you very easily could make the argument that the moment stuff like using AI tools for translation and actively not crediting translators and/or editors was the canary in the coal mine for how the rest of the industry would fair.

Right because where else are you gonna find reference images for things like cars and buildings other than generating them with AI? It’s not like there are multiple Crazy Taxi titles preceding this to refer to for visual inspiration or anything.

Somehow, using AI to generate assets of cars or pylons or what have you seems like the most embarrassing thing imaginable. Any toddler interested in cars or trains knows how to draw those, and you need AI to do it for you? I don’t love shaming people into change, but man, this deserves it.

AI has no place in game development. Not if the games are made with love and respect for the medium as an art form. Crazy that it needs to be said.
