I am English, but live in Scotland. I had NO IDEA about the extent of the cultural suppression foisted on Scotland until I moved here and let me tell you it was a bit of an eye opener. Think of all the cultural suppression carried out by the British Empire in India, Africa etc. Huge similarities.

I love travelling by train, but Scotrail is a bit of a lottery. And heaven forfend you may have paid to book a seat. Having SAID that, my last train journey to and then around Glasgow went without a hitch, though there was much sprinting to make connections. And non existent seat reservations.
