The most remarkable thing about this case is that the cop went to trial at all, for anything. It's fashionable rn to gripe about Jesus Garza, and no doubt he keeps tripping over his own feet, but no other Austin DA in my lifetime wd have even brought the case. "Not allowed" is way overstated.

We just had a case in Austin where cops gunned a young man down from a distance, waited while he laid there bleeding, then fired another kill shot before moving toward the scene, where they administered no aid. The cop was tried for deadly conduct (not murder) and resulted in a mistrial.

There are things I wish I could post. Things I should be able to post. But I want you to know this thing is tearing families apart and young people in their 30s are having heart attack symptoms without even yet having come into contact with these slave catchers.
