I understand this argument and do not really disagree with it, but from like, an economics perspective, I think the "AAA games either need microtransactions, subscriptions, or $100 prices to be fiscally sustainable" is a simple argument that the AAA segment has structured itself for destruction.

while i agree on the principle that AAA games should cost more, corporations have far more power and an increase in price would be highly skewed toward shareholders profits rather than game development workers

I think our industry being unable to raise prices goes hand in hand with global wealth disparity Game dev costs have gone up but the individual purchasing power of our customers have not. It’s not just people being entitled.

you don't need a typewriter. more broadly, don't implement mechanics in your game *just* because it's standard for similar games to have them. think about every mechanic you add and whether it actually helps. more specifically, you don't need to make your words come out one letter at a time!

Not sure how to articulate - but, the best piece of advice I could give is to make games with heart. The ol' "go with what you know" is super important, as it allows you to delve into really meaningful, genuine stuff that comes across to players without them even knowing why. It's the secret sauce.

Menu Wrap. Ie when you're selecting the first or last option in a list and keep pressing that direction, the menu loops to the opposite end. There's never a reason not to do this!
