2/ It frankly is quite shocking that the UK Government bases public policy on plainly illegal material. On the other hand, the Norwegian national ethic committee found that Wæhre was grossly negligent, which is the same as “falls far below the standards” under the draft Conversion Practice Bill.

1/🧵 We do need to talk more about the illegality and lawlessness of the Cass Review. Hilary Cass cited Anne Wæhre's then-unpublished “study” via “personal communication”. It was later published at doi:10.1007/s00787-024-02508-5 and doi:10.1111/apa.17530, and the papers have now been retracted.

5/ The only “study” that “proved” the fictional trend and divergence in gender (more trans men than trans women) has now been ruled illegal. There was never a huge increase and divergence because the change quickly plateaued. And we know why: gay marriage and backlog.

The purpose is social (if not actual) eradication. Making it untenable to be trans. Don't pass to an arbitrary standard? Don't be out. Under an arbitrary age? Don't be out. That's what it comes down to. They want us to choose compliance.

The'll say, "Oh, these rules won't stop your cis child dressing how they want or using a nickname...it'll just be trans kids we monitor..." In much the same way they only think trans people will be challenged in toilets or changing rooms. There is no *mechanism* for this that isn't discriminatory.

The overall point here is that trans rights is actually an issue of bodily autonomy, and you can't attack transness as a concept without also hitting everyone else in the crossfire. Which is not to take the focus off trans people, because of course these rules *won't* be applied equally.

It is not the place of clinicians to decide for you what your identity is and how you can express it. This is asserting total, complete control over the social lives of individuals on absolutely spurious "medical" grounds. And the fucking government are CODIFYING it.

The asymmetry here is absurd. Obviously, *denying* recognition of someone's identity is a very harsh, punitive form of "active intervention" which can have the uttermost serious consequences.

There really is no overstating how horrific the 2026 KSCIE guidance from the UK government is. It takes on board all of the punitive, coercive, ill-conceived musings of the Cass Review, and turns them into a recipe for making kids' lives hell on earth.

Many GPs have already declined to continue prescribing to trans patients and the NHS is conducting a review of our treatment. Given the GC leanings of the NHS in recent years and the panel considering the situation we can have no trust in a fair outcome.

For our cis allies, please understand that HRT is a medical need not a desire for many trans people. Our surgeons warn us never to stop taking it because we don’t produce our own hormones and would suffer medically dangerous complications. Yet, we are scared the NHS will remove our medication.
