Netflix as the lesser of two evils versus the Ellisons as the potential WBD buyers might distract from what is still an insanely miserable bit of corporate consolidation. A slophouse run by people with some of the most depressing outlooks on the future of film and TV.

Does anyone know where I'd be able to find the Giant Baba special that aired on NTV in 2009?

The Triple H selfie thing is a really underrated aspects of why modern WWE is bad. Every debut or new champion has to get the lame endorsement from an overrated guy who sucks. Also feels like it’s actually about “take a look at MY booking” rather than the person themselves.

Since I have the relevant data, I did deep dive into the key part of the WON HOF candidacy of Kevin, Kerry, and David Von Erich as a unit: The gates WCCW drew in 1983. I went in w/o preconceived notions, and the results are...interesting. But there are question marks about how the criteria applies.

World Class's 1983 by the numbers: Does it make the Von Erichs Hall of Famers?
Since I actually have all of the relevant data for a key Observer Hall of Fame candidate, I should probably do this

One of my favorite post WWE interviews ever. You get the full scope of how much of a “dumb guy who thinks they’re smart” Black really is. The socks, saying Vince liked him and it wasn’t his call to release him, saying Heyman told him his issue is he’s “too smart and creative”. Beautiful shit.

When I say he is making a very obvious effort to do this he literally shocked the commentary team last Saturday I think when he went to do the promo. Its something that means a lot to him seemingly.

You say that like it's weird for the most penny pinching version of WWE in its history to routinely sign women from Vince's 2/3rds life crisis era to Legends contracts where they get paid to do absolutely nothing for WWE

Numbered console generations were made up by a random Wikipedia user in 2004 in an attempt to standardize the "__ era game console" articles, and nobody ever corrected it. It's nonsense that no actual historian uses and you have permission to ignore it

Nothing sums up what an absolute delight of a promotion W*ING was during its short run like Crash the Terminator (Bill DeMott) being joined by Bash the Terminator (PCO) and Goliath El Gigante (Kurrgan) for this spirited pre-match promo from 1992.

Rob is right. The death clock just jumped ahead 22 hours. And there's something terribly sad about a company started up post-WCW sale to offer an alternative to WWE to just end up a gleeful part of the machine.

As covered on the latest Rewind-A-Wai: Are we EVER going to figure out who Mr. Fuji's opponent was in the match from Kuwait on Best of the WWF Vol. 16: Around the World? Mean Gene says in the wraparound that he's a Kuwaiti wrestler, but he's not; he's a mystery westerner with bleached blond hair.

These shows are fucking terrible. Needlessly long entrances & filler, endless run ins, too many gimmick matches, no heat until a "moment" happens. WWE has never been worse.

KOMO-TV in Seattle posted a news segment from 1987 where Hulk Hogan met Seth Witz, a 7 year old fan w/ osteogenesis imperfecta, a brittle bone condition. We've always heard how great Hogan was in these settings, so it's neat to see, especially how he lets his guard down and jokes about his hairline.

So everyone gets now that Okada is mostly treating TV matches like Road To shows, PPV matches like tour ending world title matches, and the C2 like the G1, right? He's not shot or even dogging it more than before. The off nights are just more visible than they used to be.

wild to me that the more money and more focused on "production" and being "a show" American wrestling companies get, the less extravagant they are. look at broke ass 1993 WCW putting together this cool set. what do we get now? sometimes the big TV is ... bigger.
