Kimura vs the world as he manages to fend off both before making them fend at each other due to miscommunication on the outside.

This type of pacing is awfully groundbreaking for 1989.

I have no idea how most would react to Tenryu-Brody from 4/15/88 based on current standards. It's not the most exciting match as it's happening but by the end when they are paying off all the stuff they did early, it suddenly feels really great. Slow-paced and building but awesome. Brody's best IMO.

Frank Dusek absolutely thought Eric Embry vs Devastation Incorporated was real. Maybe not wrestling as a whole, but definitely Embry vs Devastation.

Between Garvin-Valentine and Arn-Tully vs Rockers, the WWF was putting on the best NWA cards anywhere in January 1989.

Made a playlist a while back and have added a few things here and there. I BELIEVE this is every commercial song that played on WWF TV between 1984 and 1986. Doubles as a great soundtrack of the era.

This is very true. I don't think I've encountered a single WWF house show from this time period with no good matches at all. There probably is one but it doesn't really come to mind, which means if it has happened, it was rare.

Valentine went to BattlArts in the mid 90s and everyone acted like it was weird, like Greg knew any way to wrestle other than hitting the other guy as hard as he could and daring him to fire back.

For those who have inquired about this, there was an outer layer of fabric covering the slap bracelet that started falling off, and at that point it became very easy to get color from it. A really thin piece of metal with sharp edges. Very safe!

Among the best matches of the decade. Fujiwara and Saito is a makeshift alliance after the tournament was destroyed but it's a dream team and just ... works. Inoki and Saito have had the 1987 feud of the year and Murdoch is awfully inspired. A magical time period in pro wrestling.

covers Starrcade '87 and Survivor Series '87, real tale of two shows, both of which I happen to remember pretty well. On the Crockett side... look, I was excited when I rented that tape sometime in 1988 because I didn't have cable as a kid...

I debated this a few times but have decided 1988 will just focus on the daily issues. We'll continue the Timelines and music videos but that will be it. Frees me up to do some other things I want to do, including a big 80s retrospective when we wrap up the decade in spring 2027.

The peak of pro wrestling would be that it starts raining frogs during an Inoki-Saito match, and they, along with Choshu, Fujinami, Kimura, Murdoch, and others, start singing Aimee Man's Wise Up.
