Ever since Katrina the calls to let NOLA drown have increased. The Netherlands reclaimed 1,000 square miles of land by pumping water out of land a dozen feet below sea level. Nobody ever says let Holland vanish. It’s not just climate change sinking New Orleans. It’s also racial capitalism.

This poem that I wrote aged 15 in 1970 was published in my school magazine. I was thrilled when a TV producer picked it up and made a short film of it (on BBC Look North, I think).

here's how I feel about "we're all so unfair to Thomas, 'Doubting' is so derogatory" etc—first of all he's a saint so it's fine but also I think it's good to acknowledge that he took kind of an L there and that the grace of Christ is such as to transform all our Ls into insane and gorgeous Ws

Please, don’t trust ANY anti-sex-trafficking nonprofit that refuses to support the labor rights of consensual adult sex workers. We know for a fact that criminalization leads to exploitation and trafficking. I would also be wary of those who fund such organizations.

seems conspicuous that programmer commentary on genAI is split between "oh yeah i use claude all the time now. the 10× programmer is real and he's me. i am a god" and "yeah my coworkers use claude all the time. they keep committing crap that doesn't work and now i spend half my time fixing it"
