BIGGEST NEWS from the Fed press conference: Powell is staying on as a member of the Federal Reserve Board, at least for a while. (Unclear how long. He wants to feel confident Fed independence is secure.) He anticipates taking a much lower profile as a fed governor.

Roughly speaking, Powell seems to understand that holding onto that Fed Governor spot is his only leverage to defend the Fed, and so he's not giving it up easily.
