Euph*ria is absolutely baffling, man. Female character arcs aside (!!) how on earth do you take actual supervillain psychopath nate jacobs and decide the most intriguing character arc for him is owing money as a real estate developer?

More player choice doesn't always mean more immersion. Sometimes it means the opposite. Choice gets the credit. Immersion does the work. New piece on why less freedom sometimes makes better games — link below.

I tricked Facebook's algorithm into thinking I live somewhere in the circumpolar north. The algorithm figured out I'd been to Alaska, then started feeding me local posts, and I couldn't help but engage, and now I get posts from the Inuvik Muskrat Jamboree.

If you are a person who makes art with other people, no matter the medium, do yourself a favor and read A Director Prepares by Ann Bogart. It is the most impactful set of essays on the act of creating art I've ever read, the whole thing is a pdf, simply electric.

Same. A gang of rooks did something to me today that I can only describe as "cartoon hijinks." One ran by, begged my crew not to kill him, and we were like "we're cool, have a good one." Then after we ran past, he and a group of like 5 of them fell on us like raptors, laughing. game of the year.

I feel like Sam Le*vinson and Emer*ald Fennell are spiritually, hornilly connected. Like they dated in a past life and are doomed to make complementary porn-adjacent films for the rest of eternity, one's The Idol constantly chasing the other's Saltburn.

I have spent the entire weekend celebrating Couchella; youtube premium, different friends each night, take-out of choice, and flipping around all the stages taking in all the music. I genuinely adore that Coachella puts SO much effort into streaming their shows, it's a great experience at home.

Really disappointed, my trusty kindle kept me entertained for hundreds of miles in the backcountry. Touchscreens eat battery, I could make it a full week in the middle of nowhere on the old ones, now I've got to switch to my phone and bring an extra battery. This sucks.

The President is openly threatening genocide. A crime against humanity. He must be removed from office. The 25th Amendment must be invoked. If not, Congress has to do our damn job. Speaker Johnson, call us into session. War powers & impeachment. Remove this man from office.

Another home run from Alison. Her ability to take these weird characters from a funny card game and make them feel like somebody you know, dealing with real life problems, while also embracing the fantastical setting to it's fullest, is incredible. A must-read in every sense of the word.
