I am beyond heartbroken.

Working in government I learned that 99.99% of compliance is people thinking it’s the right thing to do or being afraid to break the law. Here, the government is threatening to prosecute masses of people for 100% lawful acts, but can only harass a teeny tiny fraction. So do it and don’t be scared!

Some things to understand about people from Minnesota on here right now, a short thread:

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota. people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

If I mooned and flipped off someone at work, I’d likely be sued both personally and professional (rightly so) and my license would be taken away immediately. These guys cosplay Call of Duty and execute my neighbors.

I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but these guys are paid with your tax money and have no real job. ICE isn't necessary. They don't get rid of criminals. They just terrorize communities. And THAT'S why they should be abolished. No need for reins. It's not a job!

Fun fact: Your local bookstore is doing more to protect you and your neighbors than Amazon is.

Thank God there were people filming. This administration would have said Alex Pretti pulled a handgun, a package of fentanyl, and a signed copy of the Communist Manifesto if they could.

How can you help Minnesotans right now? Call your goddamn Dem Senator and tell them you will never vote for them again if they do not shut the government down over this. If you have a republican, call them and call them fucking cowards.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional! ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Good to see approval so high but also I want to say for the hundredth time that what gets covered in the media as "protests" in the Twin Cities is very often "people going about their day and then running to help when they see federal agents trying to kidnap their neighbors"

So to make this absolutely clear: When a pastor takes on a role outside the church that harms immigrants in direct contradiction to Christ's teachings, it is HE who has profaned the church. It is HE who has destroyed the sacred. Not those who would call the church to account.

This is so niche Minnesotan but I hope this moment will teach us to say "excuse me" and also to introduce ourselves and continue to say hi far beyond a federal invasion.

Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.

The reason these folks know about judicial warrants are because of the incredible organizing happening here.
