If you are visiting here from X because the CSAM thing was a bridge too far, welcome. I'd encourage you to carefully consider whether the things you heard about Bluesky on X are true or whether they were lies spread by the guy who owns X who controls what posts you see on his site.

Here’s something that’s really important for everyone to understand. If we design our cities just for cars, they fail everyone, including drivers. If we design our cities with many great CHOICES in how to get around, they work better for everyone, including drivers. Spread the word.

The public library is one of humanity's greatest inventions and I am convinced that frequenting them is good for the soul of a citizen. A public realm where goods are exchanged with no money trading hands is spiritually cleansing.

You can be the safest, most attentive driver in the world and still pose a massive risk to other road users. That’s because cars and car dependency are inherently dangerous. This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you drive, but I do think that drivers should acknowledge their role in this system.

Best I can tell from available play by play data, there has never been another game in recorded NL/AL history in which… A pitcher lost a no-hitter on a HR with 2 outs in the 9th and then … His team lost the game. Baseball!

How’s this for Orioles Magic? Jackson Holliday’s HR was the 4th time in the expansion era (1961) that the Orioles broke up a no-hit bid of 8 2/3 IP or more (@EliasSports) The 1st of those 4? 6/7/68, on a hit by Davey Johnson, who passed away today What a way to honor him 🫶

I’m not against cars. I own one. But we need to make it much, much easier, pleasant, and safer to walk, bike, or take transit than it is to drive somewhere by myself in an empty car. And there’s no way to do that without making some drivers angry. Thankfully, more and more drivers understand.

It's pretty notable that mainstream, establishment discourse never ever ever considers giving liberal politicians credit for crime reductions. It's almost axiomatic that if crime goes down under a center-left leader it's either unremarked upon, or must be driven by something else.

I'm so scared of cities. All those buildings so close to each other. You can go to the movie theater and a restaurant and the park while walking, in defiance of God. There are people you haven't met before. Sometimes there's a dog in a jacket

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.
