Roy Halladay's son says he was a good father who told jokes, let things roll off his back. He didn't get to see his father pitch much when he was young. By the time he played travel baseball and Halladay was around, he saw his father was totally different in baseball. "It was a little bit scary."

I said it before, but Mamdani is a nice young man. He wears a suit, loves his pretty wife, he's good with old people. This could describe lots of politicians. But he is a "nice young man." The men want to tell jokes, the old ladies want to introduce him to their nieces. You can't buy that.

This is an under-reported accomplishment of Mamdani's. Before he was even elected he pulled off a trick almost no New York City mayor has done - put himself in the front of the line in Albany.

Hochul is in politics and temperament every bit a county commissioner from Buffalo. She also usually comes to the ballgame in the bottom of the fifth, if you know what I mean. Mamdani does not agree with her. But her interest agreed with him. Since they formed an alliance she's up 20 points.

That is, in the divide between "socialists" and establishment Democrats, you don't really find socialism at all. In brief, the anger is at perceived accommodation of Trump; feeling the party is bought and paid for; ignoring the cost of living; and being led by Israel in Gaza and Iran.
