As I’ve been catching up on Star Trek, I’m reminded how much they rely on the ship’s computers to look up stuff and calculate things. I had moment wondering, besides being a far more advanced version, how this is different from current AI? Morals. This is a good example of that.

Recently, FamilySearch digitized and uploaded tons of microfilmed records, including many from 18th-century Massachsuetts. They're using some sort of AI to transcribe/summarize the handwritten documents. I've noticed that the AI strips out references to race and enslavement in 18thc documents.

So after (mostly) finishing my version of Quint and testing it out in the wild, turns out Phlage is pretty good! Who knew? 😅

My hope for the upcoming Star Trek set, is that they take notes from the Final Fantasy set. We don’t need five versions of Spock (and yes, that could be easily justified, trust me). FF did have three Clouds, but one in the set, starter, and Commander. They gave room to celebrate all the games.
