I kind of miss hearing about devs and artists overcoming technological hurdles in creative ways. I am aware that these obstacles still exist, but it doesn't happen as often as it used to.

lrp- I've been saying this for years. people equating realism = quality is really sad. I think it's good that technology has improved, but I don't really think chasing realism is really good in the long run.

You don't need to be able to read every pore and eyelash on a character's face for "good" graphics. You need good art direction and design. Those are what ensure your game still looks striking and memorable even decades later.
