In the U.S., this is called going limp or passive resistance. One benefit is police can't claim you assaulted them. A comrade who is an able practitioner of going limp was prosecuted for Resisting Arrest. He fought it in court. Now, in NY state, you can't be prosecuted for going limp. Thanks, JF!

I'm sad to report that Rainer (Rai) Weiss passed away yesterday at age 92. Rai developed the design for LIGO, he and Kip got it funded, trained countless researchers, and received the 2017 Nobel Prize. Rai always had time for students and treated us as equals. May his memory be a blessing

It still blows my mind that we can detect mergers of black holes and huge balls of neutrons across the cosmos by measuring how the resultant gravitational waves deform spacetime around us via mirrors that are displaced by mere fractions of a proton width. Some of the coolest science imaginable. 🧪
