ANU physicists Prof
@jodiebradby.bsky.social
and A/Prof Bianca Haberl have developed a new method to make a rare form of silicon with remarkable properties. It took a decade to get here: a lesson not to underrate the slow science.

Lovely end of year lunch with the Advanced Materials Group @PhysicsANU. Tried an awesome new Ramen noodle restaurant (as we are a group that does a lot of Raman microspectroscopy!) AND we all got a group mug from Santa. Perfect end to the year. Great peeps.

Cut magnetic noise by dancing with ghosts; New device measures rotation & magnetic fields improving sensitivity drastically. Add alkali gas (sensitive to laser) to noble gas (invisible, like a ghost) pulse mag/laser fields & watch the magnetic dance, of precession
