This recent rule change proposed by the OMB (Russel Vought) is this writ large. He absolutely wants people to die, preferably Black people, women, queer people, poor people... Are you not a white man? Vought thinks you are not worth considering, and definitely don't get resources.

Also, it does not matter if Russ Vought is against DEI policies, if Congress has instructed NIH take to into account health disparities in an assessment of a grant. An executive order cannot overcome a formal statement by Congress. Somebody needs to point that out to him.

I’m a night owl. When I lived in Michigan I usually got up around 8 AM. Michigan actually has post 8 AM sunrises, even on standard time, because it’s so far west in its time zone (really should be in central). It fucking sucked. Truly miserable. A 5 PM v 4 PM sunset didn’t really make up for it.
