The in-laws posted a doorcam picture of what they think is a dog in their yard at night to some neighborhood app and responses ranged from "that dog is overweight" to "call animal control on the dog". Technology is such a great way to learn that people around you are bonkers.

When I was growing up, I had multiple friends in conservative families that were told they'd be disowned if they dated a liberal. There were no stories about them back then.

My kid wanted caviar for their 9th birthday so we got some lumpfish caviar from the local grocery store. Then they complained that we didn't have a mother of pearl spoon for said caviar. (Note: I have no idea where they are hearing about caviar. On the streets?)

I'm not making any resolutions until these new years start to get their act together.

I did restrain myself from correcting the gas guy's incorrect chemistry when he tried to explain why the smell gets stronger as the tank gets really low. It was 8 pm and nobody had time for that.

So yesterday started with the smell of gas in the house (due to a low propane tank, not a leak, thankfully) and ended with our doorbell going bonkers at 10 pm. Fun times fun times.
