I need people understand. Columbia Heights is a small first ring suburb with a population of 20k. Our school district is small: 1 high school, 1 middle school, 3 elementary schools and a family center. SIX kids have been taken from our schools. The damage to our community is incalculable.

I'm starting to become convinced there's a right wing op to scare us about signal usage and staying safe. guys, we're already in a surveillance state. if they get your plates or your face they know everything about you. knowing what you said in signal won't change anything

Minnesotans are kind of ok with that energy. We ice fish. We hunt. We dedicate entire weekends to making family recipes from the old country. We garden and grow crops. We have seed art competitions, for heaven’s sake. The biggest lesson to learn here is make peace with the drudgery of a long haul.

People want angry mobs - either to be in one or to fight one. I get it. I know that feeling. I need to get reeled in by my people sometimes. But this is long, unglamorous work. Most of it looks and feels like drudgery.

2) People also don’t get how even the “exciting” roles are mostly boredom, until they are suddenly not. Protests and vigils are a lot of standing and shouting the same thing over and over. Patrolling a neighborhood is walking or driving around, often not encountering any ICE activity.

I’m stuck by a couple things. 1) People really don’t want to hear that for every protestor and observer there are at least a dozen people doing boring female-coded work. Delivering meals and supplies. Giving people rides. Raising money. Caring for neighbors. Managing communication.

In addition to all our stolen neighbors back, Minneapolis needs billions in federal reparations for the economic damage the US government has intentionally inflicted on this city for no reason beyond exacting some kind of bizarre political and racial retribution
