It might not be perfect, it might be missing some promised audio tracks, it might be spread across a ridiculous number of discs, but the Right Stuf Dirty Pair box finally arrived and I'm pretty happy with it tbh

I've heard about all the issues, will be investigating but I can finally close this chapter. Amongst the negativity I do want to shout out the all individuals who contributed to this project, and to those who helped drag this across the finish line.

If I can say one positive thing about this set...it technically arrived earlier than I was expecting.

Got a favor to ask of any dirty pair backer who just ordered the TV series, no box set: was there a barcode on the shrink wrap? If so, could you take a photo or reply with the number? I want to properly catalog the release, but my copy wash just shrink wrapped over the box.

This whole shipping and launch fiasco feels just indicative of the entire ordeal that's gone down since Crunchyroll started absorbing TRSI. Half-assed, lots of radio silence, broken promises, and careless mistakes that could've been avoided had they not laid off everyone who gave a shit.

Because Nozomi recorded a new dub from scratch and flew in voice actors to New York City (limited by the va’s busy schedule). There was a huge delay in getting their script ready, and then after they agreed to this absurd production process, the ADR director got COVID. The issue was never video.

I put in every single disc of the Dirty Pair box. 5.1 & 2.0 tracks for both languages are accounted for, plus mono for TV & Streamline dub on features. Missing are Mike Toole's commentary tracks on TV & features (but it's there for OVA ep 2), and the English OVA track with the original M&E (YIKES!)

Going through my Dirty Pair Kickstarter blu-ray, making sure everything's alright, and I noticed that the Japanese 5.1 audio for ep. 24 doesn't sync with what's happening on screen. The other audio tracks (the two English dub tracks/the other Japanese tracks) match up. Anyone else had this problem?

I have two. First: Every single person who backed the Dirty Pair Kickstarter should have express written permission to slap the executives at Crunchyroll in the face, twice a day, for the rest of their lives. What they've dealt with over the past several years is utter bullshit

As shitty as they are, I'm just happy to have the Dirty Pair blu rays in any way shape or form.

The craziest party about the Dirty Pair Kickstarter, and it’s missing features on the Blu-rays? Nozomi made a video explaining exactly where they store and archive everything. It’s public knowledge. They told us where to look! It even features Judy, who worked as a producer on the Kickstarter:

(Reposted with update) Beyond what’s already been said: - the video uses the Japanese BR remaster, which has a lot of DNR and also tweaks to remove various homages. Not a dealbreaker IMO - at least one person has observed a possible audio timing issue… but that seems to be untrue.

After moving multiple times, the company managing getting bought, and who knows what the qc and extra content is, I now have a blu ray version for dirty pair.

We shall see if one of the most unpopular presidents in American history who is presiding over an economy he’s trying to wreck and the poisoning of our diplomatic relations can consolidate a dictatorship. I’m pretty skeptical he has the juice, especially in his decayed state.

Just saying: I'm probably going to be legitimately angry when a boutique publisher like Discotek inevitably picks up the license for Dirty Pair, because the past four years have been such a shitshow that I'm going to resent having to buy their re-release.

Dirty Pair definitely near the very bottom (or I guess that'd be top, in this list?), but I'd honestly put Escaflowne below Anime Sols on that list. Why? Because, from all indications, there was literally no need for Escaflowne to be Kickstarted. It was just FUNimation taking advantage of a trend.

All of this. All of it. Nothing unreasonable said here in the slightest, and nothing to be ashamed of if *you* backed this project, and are (or have been) feeling similarly. Crunchyroll couldn't be bothered to make things right even after softly admitting to dropping the ball. Speaks volumes.

Okay, so at least it looks like Nozomi's uploads of the Dirty Pair OVAs and features are still up, actually

The fact is, CR forgets where it came from. They're so corporate now that the very idea of making a post on the Kickstarter to outline where the project was and what material they had and asking the backers to help them figure out if they're missing things... it's all just a foreign concept to them.

No, what's frustrating is the blasé reaction to legitimate concerns the backers continually raised and the awful communication. The missing ADV audio could have been addressed if they'd posted a list of "finalized" specs to the backers when people asked about the potentially missing 5.1 mixes.

So, folks are finally getting their Dirty Pair BDs after 4 fucking years, & here’s the TLDR on what we all expected 1. Several missing stretch goals 2. Bootleg-tier art design/packaging. Cases are low quality & discs are stacked 3. No menu music. It takes <5sec to cut an OP out of an audio file btw

Figuring out what commentaries made it and didn't make it onto Dirty Pair. We were supposed to get a Mile Toole commentary on a TV episode, an OVA episode, and a movie but apparently only the OVA made it onto the discs. @miketoole.com did you end up recording the others and they just weren't used?

I'm excited that soon I'll finally get that Dirty Pair BD set I paid for years and years ago when a reputable company run by passionate folks with respect for the material and quality control put it up for order. Unfortunately then that company sold out and fired basically everyone who gave a shit

I think what's so frustrating about the Dirty Pair issues for me isn't the mistakes themselves because hey, they happen. Lord knows I've had mistakes slip through before, and things like the disc art switch might not be CR's direct fault, although they should have checked the discs before shipping.

I have my Dirty Pair Blu-rays and never got a shipping notice email. CHECK YOUR LEGACY RIGHTSTUF ORDER! You may have a tracking number and not even know it!

Gonna be euphoric and crestfallen the day when one of the two boutique anime companies license rescue all of Dirty Pair and release it in a timely manner and do a more than competent job authoring it.

Figured there'd be problems like this (the mixed-up disc labels thing is the one that really grinds my gears), though so far they haven't risen to the level of my worst fears. *knock on wood*

I'm absolutely positive that CR wasn't ever actually gonna release the DP BD if this was what they mustered after everyone dog piled on them for years

It just sucks because Dirty Pair really is one of my favorite anime ever, so to both see it get a subpar, compromised release like this *and* now forever have its legacy tied to this shitshow is incredibly frustrating.

Losing an entire promised audio track, several commentary tracks, and mixed up disc labels is enough to raise a fuss about. The Dirty Pair Kickstarter fiasco is the gift that keeps on giving, and my shipment is still only processing.
