Dirty Pair definitely near the very bottom (or I guess that'd be top, in this list?), but I'd honestly put Escaflowne below Anime Sols on that list. Why? Because, from all indications, there was literally no need for Escaflowne to be Kickstarted. It was just FUNimation taking advantage of a trend.

ZZ only ever had songs of theirs used in three anime (One Piece, Samurai Gun, & Eyeshield 21), but every single song of theirs that was used are all-time bangers. Sad that they broke up back in 2007.

The fact is, CR forgets where it came from. They're so corporate now that the very idea of making a post on the Kickstarter to outline where the project was and what material they had and asking the backers to help them figure out if they're missing things... it's all just a foreign concept to them.

I think what's so frustrating about the Dirty Pair issues for me isn't the mistakes themselves because hey, they happen. Lord knows I've had mistakes slip through before, and things like the disc art switch might not be CR's direct fault, although they should have checked the discs before shipping.

As I see people finally getting their Dirty Pair BDs (still waiting for mine to seemingly even ship), with various physical production flubs, seemingly missing stuff that was promised at one point, & whatnot... I am honestly relieved that I turned down the offer to record a commentary for this thing

Backers are starting to get their copies of Dirty Pair, and it looks like the promised “ADV mix” of the OVAs with their Music and Effects track is nowhere to be seen. On a set this expensive that we waited this long for, that *really* stings. (Disclaimer, my copy hasn’t arrived yet)

The EN subs are up now. However, in that time I downloaded the Amazon rip, which is Amazon-via-CR and has a CR intro. That version had EN subs. I dunno. I suppose this happens all the time on Crunchy, these days.

The CPU Tourneys channel on YouTube most recently put a CPU vs. CPU tournament for Fighters Destiny on the N64, and it's a great showcase of just how damn cool & unique a fighter it really is (alongside its sequel, Fighter Destiny 2, & spiritual successor, Toy Fighter) FD really deserves more love

Kind of wild that the third-parties who actually released full cartridges are seeing success (see: Marvelous with 500K sales on Story of Seasons, high sales for CDPR's Cyberpunk). Maybe there's something to that. 🤔🤔🤔

This is a pretty big deal; Heavyweight Champ is an early predecessor to fighting games, is TTL-based (and therefore difficult to emulate) and there are no extant units that I'm aware of. All we've had is a few precious seconds of it being played from a newscast. Here's hoping it lives again soon.

A reminder that Right Stuf had released all prior seasons of Galaxy Angel on Blu-Ray up through late 2020, & even offered Galaxy Angle Rune via streaming (I believe through FUNimation?)... and then Crunchyroll bought up Right Stuf in 2022. Would Right Stuf have eventually re-released Rune? I dunno.

To be fair, all of the below games were released on hardware that was, quite literally, a PS1 with some minor enhancements, like increased RAM or a faster processor. Capcom ZN-1 & ZN-2, Namco System 11 & 12, etc. Even Sega had its own take at the time with the ST-V, which was just a Saturn.
