To be blunt, if you're still still doing the whole "You hurt your own party to power up in Final Fantasy II" schtick you truly know nothing about the game itself. I mean, FFII is very much the OG Star Wars trilogy in plot, & even predates "Somehow, the Emperor returned" by literal decades.

Was feeling in the mood, so I booted up D (the OG version for the 3DO) & finally played it through the completion for the first time ever. Not really sure why I never played it all the way through before, honestly. I didn't find all of the extra memory beetles, but it's definitely a memorable ride.

After stuff like Tomb Raider 2013 or Koutetsu(shin) Jeeg & how they each portrayed Himiko as a villain, it's amusing to see how Warriors Orochi 3 portrays Himiko... as a bubbly little sister character to Da Ji who quickly becomes friends with the heroes once you recruit her. Ah, mythology.

This video is so good, a true new standard. As someone who's tired of "game history" as people parroting trivia on Nintendo in the US, it's so refreshing to see how a tired topic can still be interesting when it's properly researched & contextualized. And also reminds us why any of this matters :)

I've found this to be true for the translation industry too. Making friends and supporting each other (building a network of amazing people) can open potential doors, but it takes years to build up those relationships. Fellow translators aren't competition, they're colleagues and friends.
