Fresh off the slow boat from Japan, the tape has arrived! Need to run to an appointment this afternoon, so I haven’t chucked it in my VCR yet, but it does look like they’re dubbing entire scenes, at the very least. (The suspense is killing me!)

I believe a strong case could be made that CR's egregiously sloppy captions on so many shows violate FCC regulation 47 C.F.R. § 79.1(j)(2), (3), and (k), per the CVAA act of 2010, which applies to streaming. It may be time for people to start bombarding the FCC Consumer Complaint Form.

LRT: Looks like Discotek is confirmed to be putting out Higurashi Rei, which I don’t think we got confirmation of before this. Makes me wonder about Nekogoroshi, Kira and Outbreak. Neither is particularly good, but I’d still love to have them on my shelf for completion’s sake.

You know, I think the thing I miss the least from the DVDs days is how many times you have to get up and swap discs. Currently watching Heat Guy J, which Geneon split over *seven* discs. I’m getting up every 3 episodes, or roughly every 75 minutes… That’s like VHS numbers!

Fully expecting KyoAni to pull a pachinko at their announcement tomorrow, but part of me is still desperately hoping we’re getting more Haruhi, as unlikely as that may be.

Random discovery of the now: Disney did a special version of the 2005 Porco Rosso DVD for Canada where the only change is a badge saying it includes the French version, and a tiny flag on the back. UPC, SKU, and ISBN are identical to the US release.

Black Jack features the 10 episode OVA series remastered in HD, plus the 2 episode Final OVAs. These are in widescreen as the director intended, with both the Japanese audio w/ subs & English dub. The remaster is a bit older, but looks nice. A few sample screenshots.

Did you or someone you know back the Dirty Pair Kickstarter at a level higher than the "Lovely Angel" tier? (The one where you get all the Blu-rays). Or did you buy one of the add-ons (other than the artbook)? If so, I'd love to hear from you regarding if you got all your rewards as promised.
