Arms/shoulders and the back done on the RG Fukuoka Nu Gundam. Had to go back to my pictures of the statue from the trip to confirm that it does have the beam saber on the backpack and yes, of course I took pictures from multiple angles.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I see images of young Robert Woodhead I can't help but think "Wait, @nigoki.bsky.social never told me he was a time traveler!". Seriously, the resemblance between Doug & young Robert is a little uncanny, I feel.

[Trying] to take a break from screens (so much real work and Anime Boston prep to do!) and too rainy to go for a walk, so today’s lunch break was some work on the HG Brady Phantom.

For me, visually, Voltron Legendary Defender is a feast. Studio Mir hit it out of the park with this show. The character designs were awesome, but also the backgrounds, especially the planet-scapes, were marvelous. The artistry of the animation and music is worth a re-watch.

Bunch of time in front screens early this week with Anime Boston prep work so I took about a 90 minutes to not look at one for awhile and finished the RG Fukuoka Nu Gundam torso. Time will tell if I actually finish this build before AB. 😉

Well it’s for real this time. My truly final order from Mecha Warehouse arrived today. Is it stuff I really needed? Not really, but it’s all stuff I’ll have a use for down the road and even though I have a sizeable stack of them from so many past orders, I grabbed one last pack of MW stickers.

Again only one night this week to work on a lot, but the Fukuoka version of the RG Nu Gundam now has a waist!

Since spending the last 90 minutes digging out a new parking spot; just a reminder that even if it’s cold out, you still need to hydrate before/during/after shoveling snow. Take breaks and drink some water.

Well if I had to come in during the blizzard as essential and there’s limited options for lunch, I’m at least going to get myself a toy robot for my troubles.

Re: Otakon panels. I asked on Facebook and it was confirmed that the Mecha Kaikan is returning. There’s some other great news about the programming tracks too.

Both goalies have been great, and the team has been ridiculous on defense all tournament. 31 goals in six games, only one allowed, five shutouts. Absolute madness.

I will cheer for the teams, but man, the US Olympic Hockey Teams’ jerseys are so boring compared to most of the other countries.

Only chance all week I’ve had both time and energy to build, but got the first leg done of the Real Grade Nu Gundam (Fukuoka style)

Forgot to post this last night, quickly finished special version of the Gunpla-kun I got via Secret Santa in a builders group I’m in. The different colors are to make it look like the movie poster art.

Finished up the HMM 1/72 Liger Zero Panzer last night. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this model since I hadn’t built anything from this line by Kotobukiya, but after completing it, I can say that I am very satisfied with the build.

Hind leg armor complete. All that’s left is the head armor, but the siren call of bedtime has come. Hoping I can squeeze in one more build session this week, but work has been pretty exhausting and I don’t want to rush and mess up anything now.

Weird choice, but sure, why not?

There’s a handful of things I still hold onto like this. I love seeing not just how anime fandom continues to evolve but also the different ways fans were marketed to.

Jan 10 2024, Jan 10 2025 and Jan 24, 2026. I thought my journey had stalled in the last year, but when I went out to shovel snow tonight I noticed my snow pants were slipping off, even over a pair of jeans and long johns.

Mary Markos of NBC Boston is in Lynn, so of course used a tub of Fluff to show us how much snow has fallen.

Just enjoying life in Boston at the moment.

Underbelly launcher, two side launchers and the tail launcher have been finished. With the green of the armor and the red of the missiles the color separation is starting to come into the spotlight. This thing is going to look so cool when done.

The base Liger Zero is set, including one of the an extremely tiny transparent orange piece. I was surprised to learn it’s not a perfect square, it’s a bit trapezoidal* so it has placed in just the right way. Next build session will start up the Panzer unit armor.

I enjoy watching trailers for movies and TV shows, but can we please stop making teasers that are like “trailer coming tomorrow!” I don’t need a commercial for a commercial.

Looking back at a post I made 9 years ago about some of gorgeous shots in Voltron Legendary Defender. It’s a shame there isn’t a nice Blu Ray release of the full series and/or an art book.

I played it for the first time this week and I gotta say, for a Game Boy game, Belmont’s Revenge has a pretty great soundtrack. youtu.be/CHLsolltIJ8

Front legs set, only about 1/3 of the way through the first hind leg. The detail and complexity continue to surprise me.

One last thought on Endless Waltz’s music changes: White Reflection is better than Last Impression.

It was fun to see Endless Waltz remastered and on a big screen, though I’m always torn on some of it. Movie cut has a few more scenes and it’s one continuous piece, but I’m so used to and fond of some ways the OVA cut did things, especially music moments. (cont.)

Urdr Hunt feels like a typical Gundam side story, even if its pacing is a little weird because of the original format it’s adapted from. The core story easily matches what I expect from typical Gundam side story manga, like SEED Astray.

I’ve noticed a trend when I’ve been going to Gundam events in theaters the past few years. At least this one has had a few more days and I suspect the dub version was more popular.

Fighting some nasal congestion so did some more work on the Liger before it was an appropriate time to take some NyQuil so I sleep through the night. All four feet are done complete with their tiny panel lining.
