So! I've been working on an original comic project, and it occurred to me that I can repurpose the character and mecha poses from the page layouts to make some model sheets. Since these roughs are based on comic panels, they're pretty perspective-y. Now to refine!

Actually, let's skip back to a general overview of the Colorado Plateau, which spans Utah and the rest of the "Four Corners" states. I ended up buying a bunch of books on Utah's geology by Thomas H. Morris, Scott M. Ritter, et al, and here's a little bit of what I learned.

We didn't just look at life-sized dinosaur models while we were in Moab - naturally we had to visit some of its famous national and state parks. Here's a snippet of my travel journal with some info on Arches cribbed from the lavish visitor center.

More Denham Tracts. The most interesting thing about this list of fairies is that we don't know what a lot of the names on it refer to. The creatures that have known folklore behind them, I've drawn in warm colors. The names we can only speculate about, I've drawn in cool colors.

It's great fun live-sketching a Shakespeare play, but the part where I get to scan it, clean it up, and retype the scrawled dialogue for legibility is really one of those "me sowing/me reaping" meme moments. :-)

I finally completed my notes from Mark A. Norell's "World of Dinosaurs," just as I heard of Dr. Norell's passing. I included a little appreciation and memorial at the end.

Quick thought before I dash out to teach some more. I go back and forth on managing my Bluesky feed - sometimes I feel like I should trim it down to something lean, mean, and Important. Other times I want to go on an adding spree and roll in lots of interesting people...
