Only having politicians with personal or family wealth is objectively bad for democracy. Allowances to make sure people elected from all walks of life, no matter where you live, can be effective at their jobs isn't the issue. People with existing personal or family wealth taking the piss is.

Today, I managed to cycle all the way to Lower Hutt from my apartment in Newtown, Wellington. It's about 20km and I was able to use cycle lanes and/or shared paths for pretty much the whole way there! I didn't think I'd be able to do this in my lifetime, and I'm absolutely stoked.

The people who "won lotto" in Aotearoa are those with the privilege of intergenerational wealth (etc.) who bought property early and used it to get more wealth.
