We live in a country v much divided by those who have experienced police inaction, or worse - and those who haven't. I saw it constantly when talking about getting death threats or stalked - "I hope someone called the cops!". Why? Why would you assume they were going to do anything helpful?

My experience in the Australian health system was v good, but as I've been out a few days now, I can't help but sigh - one of the nurses told me off for "getting wound up" as they tried to take blood. They were, for one, pushing the cannula needle into my hand. I have huge bruises.

I broadly don't watch reality TV, just not for me, but god Celebrity Traitors UK has been so good and just having watched the end - I saw a spoiler and I was still enthralled the whole way. Fuck I love good TV.

Didn't expect to get gastro, didn't expect it to land me an overnight stay in a regional Australian hospital... But holy shit. This is leagues above any experience I've had in NZ. Seen in an hour. Hot meal that was honestly very good. Salt even offered! The loveliest nurses, I cannot fault.

There's been a real rw political shift to erode Good Work that doesn't have strong public awareness campaigns or by-in. I saw it here where our local low-cost power company got removed by the lines company trust to give back fucking $200 rebates, despite the company being FAR more effective

And I say all of this, not just because accessible infrastructure helps someone in my specific scenario, but it also helps older people, it helps families with small children, it helps people with other hidden disabilities... And it's just good hospitality. It's just looking after people.

Idk if I've talked about it on here much but after a loooong wait, finally got to do hospital hydrotherapy and now do it at our local pool - and really, really enjoying it. The first time in a long time I've had a massive decrease in pain. To celebrate, I sewed myself a little wet bag for my togs!

My Maaori wards debate has been reshared again, which I'm always so pleased and humbled by, but every time someone will comment on how I mispronounced an English word which is v funny to me. I was powering through my notes, absolutely well over time, something was going to give 😅🤦‍♀️

It will be very funny if, due to the Coalition’s efforts to dog whistle over Māori wards, they end up scoring an own goal through motivating progressives to get out and vote en masse to not only retain Māori wards but also to elect progressive councils.

A very interesting tidbit from our Annual Report and the survey of residents - those who disagree that councillors make decisions in the best interest in the city dropped from 40% last year to 26% this year.
