Mound Bayou, a self-sufficient Black town in Mississippi founded by formerly enslaved people that thrived for decades. Mamie Till was famously protected there as she sought justice for her son. Today, White South Africans are displacing those descendants

Yo, the Great Recession really screwed us millennials. The elder millennials were in their mid twenties and the younger millennials were coming of age. This is around the time people start thinking of having families. Black people lost more wealth than any other time in American history

Over 50% of American adults can't read above a 6th grade reading level, and this is an absolutely catastrophic civil rights crisis with implications for every facet of individual and collective life, including processing political statements by politicians, doctors, and so on

If you were horrified watching elected leaders run & scramble because of gun violence, just imagine how my daughter Jaime felt in school running from an active shooter before she was killed. Now, become a part of the solution & only vote for people determined to address gun violence in America.

If a political party can name all the black women it has elected or actively promoted on both hands it probably shouldn't act as smug as it does. On the left or right , we are being ignored and failed

Born in fire, battered by the wreckage of colliding worlds, covered for eons in magma, wracked by volcanoes, frozen and thawed again and again, and after everything went just wrong and right enough, here it is: our home. The rarest gift in the known universe. Happy Earth Day.

Another classic Newsom move, cutting mobile crisis response teams to make up budget shortfalls. While running these through cop shops isn't ideal, they ARE designed to take crisis response out of police hands and into people actually trained in helpful responses. Crisis teams save lives.

Newsom wants to end state funding for mobile crisis teams. North Bay officials say it could endanger vulnerable residents
The proposed shift would shoulder counties with as much as $130 million annually to sustain the programs. For many, it would open a gap they can’t fill.

In 1953 Iran had a functioning democracy. A free press. Seven political parties. Women in universities. Women granted voting rights in municipal councils in 1952. A secular prime minister named Mosaddegh who believed Iran's oil belonged to Iran. The US and Britain decided he had to go.
