âOne person is an autocratic president of the university for decadesâ certainly wasnât a flawless system but itâs clear that âadmins hop from job to job scaling the career ladder by filling their CV with âaccomplishmentsâ that are expensive burdens to the schools they leave behindâ is even worse.

so it is very apparent that 1) You are not going to be able to know for sure who or where an order came from, much less if it is legal 2) The President and SecDef will disavow any order that retroactively proves to be unpopular or risky

Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved. Don't look up!

If you spend decades undermining a liberal arts education, you get college students who can't write a decent essay. But you also get adults who can't recognize a decent essay and sincerely think the issue is the beliefs and not that reading this is painful.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism. Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.

Once you accept the framing that there are Good Groups and Bad Groups and the latter must be purged from society and the former must have special privileges without oversight, it matters very little what you *call* these groups; the gates of a bottomless atrocity machine have been thrown wide open.

Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.

COVID myths are foundational to modern fascism. Stuff like the lab leak BS or the idea that we âoverreactedâ to the pandemic, or the claim that dissent was âcensoredâ by the âbiomedical security state,â are narrative pillars holding up the fascistsâ bizarro, contradictory worldview. Understand?

The vibe shift today is, I think, due to the fact that New Yorkers were on the offensive instead of the defensive. Usually with protests, demonstrators have to defend the space, defend their right to march, etc. They get beat up and pushed around and antagonized into chaos and trauma. 1/
