We've had questions from three broadcasters so far, and they have all been about the practicalities and costs. None has asked about the legal/moral issue of retrospectively changing laws so huge numbers of people who have made their lives in the UK will be expelled.

As a university educator, it's hard not to take this personally. We pretty much burned ourselves out racing to rewrite our courses to make them work online and supporting our students, while also living through the pandemic ourselves. Painful to be told it wasn't enough.

There is an article needing to be written on communication and receiving clearly AI-ed emails from colleagues. It doesn't feel like communication. It is something else, but I don't know what. Something about the whole point of communication being lost.

It feels like we’re at the tipping point of this system. It is immeasurably disrespectful to anyone who taught in universities during the pandemic to be treated like this.

Everyone (not you, Boris Johnson and your "government") was doing their best during the pandemic. It was bad. But this suit is just hateful and an embodiment of the reduction of university to an "experience".

Unis also had obligations to protect staff. But, I mean, should I get compensation for having to shield at home for 5 years? I have, after all, missed out on years of life "experience". Or should I just realise that life is not fair, pandemics happen, and we need goodwill towards each other.
