This is just appalling. As an academic at risk of redundancy last year, I despair and send solidarity. As the mother of a 15 year old fascinated by music, languages history and English, I'm deeply saddened by what this - and news elsewhere - means for her future education.

For further context: almost everyone in the Faculty of Arts is at risk of redundancy. Music, Modern Languages & American & Canadian Studies courses to close completely. History will not close but staff numbers will be significantly reduced. This is what 'right-sizing' looks like, apparently.
