I just responded to the scene at 26th and Nicollet shortly after the observer was shot. They teargassed and/or pepper sprayed Jana Shortal of KARE11 at the scene and she was being treated when I walked up. ICE have a fancy camera they are using to scan the faces of the crowd.

Yesterday, Minneapolis gave us hope. That’s what they’re trying to kill: the will of a people who are willing to fight them.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

At 26th and Nicolett in Minneapolis this morning— Feds have just shot another person in the streets. Furious community members are gathering. State police and conservation cops here in front of ~50 federal agents.

I understand why some can’t watch the video and absolutely support that choice. But if you can, I think you should. Yes, there have been so many of these over the years; *and* these are escalating times. It’s not more the same, it’s worse, and we need to face that best we can to change it.

MPD are cutting off Nicollet southward starting at 24th, and headed all the way down to at least 28th. Tear gas was being deployed as I left to go home. If you are responding in the area, wear a respirator mask. ICE and MPD allowed a bus to drive through the scene as well.

ICE executed someone in the street outside the donut shop but it has not slowed down their active raids on homes and businesses in neighborhoods all around the cities so please be vigilant.

Minneapolis has seen only 2 murders this year - both by ICE.

She was held in ICE detention in Tacoma for 4.5 months and has now been released, but she needs help affording an apartment. Her son is currently in the custody of the State of Oregon.

They were eventually allowed one phone call as a thanks for saving the agent’s life. They used it to call their lawyer, who called their state representative, who ultimately got them released on the condition they tell people they were “treated kindly.”

A friend tried to tell some of us on FB that this protest doesn't matter, that everyone should take their grievances to their lawmakers. But when the attacks are on your hometown streets, that's where you go first.
