Flu pandemics can be weird. The last big one in 1918 mainly killed young, healthy adults (avg age 28 vs. 75 for Covid). IFR in the 30-40 year old age range was ~30x higher than during covid. It would be a rude wake up call for young adults if they're on the block this time.
