It’s absolutely wild that our communities are being illegally attacked, people brutalized, families separated, and all we have to show for it is cell phone footage from residents.

I get they're trying to help but "thankfully we got it on film" and "citizens, prepare to document the fascism" are cold comfort. Especially when the feds are constantly filming this for their own propaganda anyway!

So DHS is saying we didn’t see what we thought we did. The dept has not responded to why immigration agents were allegedly responding to a robbery.

We've recieved more photos from the inside of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided over Monday night. Doors bashed in, window panes missing, furniture smashed, water on the floor. It's unclear what damage was pre-existing and what was inflicted in the raid.

ICE in Chicagoland today: CBP agents were seemingly everywhere, with arrests across several neighborhoods and the suburbs. Exact numbers are unknown. Neighbors in Garfield Park witnessed feds choking a Black man in the street, and Border Patrol snatched people at retail strips and traffic stops.

Adding "feds fucking choking a man in broad daylight" to the list. Absolute terror across Chicago today. Begging for national attention that matches the level of crisis on the ground here feels like screaming underwater at this point.

A man in the video yells “Y’all are supposed to be choking Mexicans foe” and I know what they meant. A lot of black people assumed this wasn’t going to affect us because we aren’t latinx, but this isn’t just about immigrants. This is the GOPs chance to search, raid and arrest w/o jurisdiction.

This is ICE. This is Trump. This is Noem. They all think legal rules don't apply to them.

"Castro noted the community largely welcomed people to the neighborhood when Texas Governor Greg Abbott began purchasing bus tickets to Chicago for newly- arrived migrants in 2022." 😒 These narratives do not come from these communities. No choice was given PERIOD.

40 people from 7500 South Shore is an insane amount of people. This is one apartment building, in a neighborhood that is 93% Black, with ICE attacking people sent here by the Texas governor 2 years ago.

Held has been released. Amazing to see local independent newsrooms pull together quickly on a Saturday night to mobilize for their colleague and for press freedom.

Steve is fine/uninjured. Some neck pain from being tackled. His biggest concern while in custody was what was happening to people outside the facility since he couldn't hear any of the munitions from inside. In typical Steve fashion, he also made a number of new friends while detained.
