The Sun-Times *is reporting these were live rounds* fired at a vehicle. There's been much confusion in the immediate aftermath of this about whether whether they were that or pepper balls, and whether person in vehicle was hit by them. This is the most current info we have *at this time.*

Broadview, Illinois today— A dizzying array of federal and local police quashed an anti-deportation protest outside the Chicago ICE "processing" facility. Border Patrol agents once again violently attacked protesters, with arrest and crowd control support from IL state troopers.

What we just saw: state police not only assisting federal agents with crowd control out here, but also protester arrests. All morning, this has been a nonviolent demonstration. Have not seen a single crime from this crowd (not that that would excuse the brutality).

You're saying the right things, but why is the Illinois State Police, your police department, announcing that they're going to help ICE at their Broadview Concentration Camp?

the cook county sheriff’s office and illinois state police announce they’re setting up a “temporary unified command” to “coordinate public safety efforts” outside the broadview ice detention center. this includes “designated areas” for protest along the sidewalk “to allow emergency vehicle access.”

Historically, zones like this have always worked out well, preserved "first amendment rights," and never caused any additional problems.

Every day is just countless alerts of ICE all over the city, with hotspots on the southwest side communities of Brighton Park and Back of the Yards. I do wonder long-term how our Latine immigrant communities can live like this. It's breaking our fabric. We need leaders at all levels to do more.

Well this is (not) reassuring: a TFR (temporary flight restriction) just went up over the city from now through October 12th for "Special Security Reasons." Not that this makes it any better, but this TFR is specifically for drones (UAS) provided you don't have prior approval or authorization.
