Dear lord, we are so far past 25th amendment time here. I simply can't comprehend how millions of Americans see strength in this pathetic, diminished, addled old man.

In the NY Times top stories today, there's one tiny mention of the weaponization fund heist in an "audio headlines" widget. Trump stole $1.8B from the American people to pay off Jan 6 insurrectionists—the most corrupt act of any US president, ever—and legacy media is burying it in less than 24 hrs.

A perfect vignette of why we are where we are: Trump's math can be proven wrong by an 11 yr old. RFK tries to defend it but makes it worse by getting it wrong in the other direction too. Bunch of other people who should know better nod wisely and agree. Dunning-Kruger ass administration.

Hey, look everybody. The most obvious and widely predicted thing to happen has happened. Releasing the Epstein files is to Trump 2 what the Mueller report was to Trump 1 and Jack Smith was to the interregnum.

This is 100% correct and my only firm criterion for the next Dem primary. Milquetoast incrementalist centrist corporatist candidates are completely unfit for the moment and should be completely purged from American public life.

So our entire economic well being hinges on a company with $20B in revenues spending $1.4T on AI infrastructure when there isn’t enough electricity generated on the planet to power that many data centers?

Truly the worst to ever do it. No understanding of power levers, completely out of touch with public sentiment and political winds, no principles, and a godawful communicator to boot.

Federal prosectors acted to enforce the law with proper procedure and got fired, because the White House opposes that. The new standard: Criminals the president likes should be allowed to do crimes, and people he doesn't like should be prosecuted for things they didn't do. I preferred rule of law.

There's a real poetic symmetry to a week that started with the president gloating about the taxpayer-funded 24K gold he's slathering in the Oval Office then two days later canceling healthcare for millions.

The best part of this photo — which is a good example of how photographers make art — is the slogan “American workers first” on the banner observed by troops who’ve been forced to pick up trash and do landscaping because the president on the banner illegally fired the American workers who did that.

I'm just a small-town political scientist, but my unpopular opinion is that American hegemony was never actually declining pre-2025 & we simply could have decided not to touch the stove on the fascism, mercantilism, isolationism, & aggressive imperialism & enjoyed the rest of the 21st century.

Important to remember that absolutely everything happening right now is a result not of real need, but of decadence. The wealthiest, most comfortable people who ever lived joined an economic suicide cult and we're all about to pay for it.

Yes. I have tried to argue over and over that Trump/Vance's large scale destruction of clean energy manufacturing jobs (the manufacturing jobs of the future!) should be relevant to discussions of their stated goal of reinvigorating US manufacturing. No one listens

So the basic proposal, if I’m following correctly, is to wrench the whole American consumer economy back to Gilded Age protectionism by means of Executive fiat, right now, tonight, while Congress tries to relieve the tax burden on some rich people but everyone else goes on paying income taxes too.

Fascinating article about SpaceX. Total commitment to a fundamentally flawed technical concept, but there's too much riding on it to say he was wrong. Very similar to Tesla's failing pursuit of camera-only autonomy.
