I said it before, will say it again -- generative AI fetishizes "ideas" while sneering at effort, execution, and education. That, despite Gen-AI being built on and out of other people's effort, execution and education.

It's the last day of class for me. We've had reading reflections throughout the term, but this week's prompt was something different. "Who helped you in this class and how?" "Who did you help in this class and how?" And they are bringing it. They have so much appreciation for each other.

Whatever else it can do, this tech adds work and erodes trust. The extra work is time-wasting and wearying, and I resent the erosion of trust most deeply. I cannot believe it is healthy for society to be ever less sure that anything you encounter is the real thought or expression of a fellow human

I don't care if a non-disabled person accesses a disability accommodation for the same reason I don't care if a child whose parents are rich gets free lunch at school. We don't need to means test being a kind person. I have better things to do with my time than be a cop over social services.

I think one of the reasons the Atlantic stirring up the pot with that accommodations are TOO MUCH article is timing. In the wake of effective attacks on affirmative action in higher ed, it’s REALLY difficult not to see all this discourse as attempts to shape opinion against accommodations/ADA.
